Description of Borwick Lodge - Outgate
Borwick Lodge, a former country house hotel built in the 17th century is a very special property and one that we consider will be the most perfect venue for your Lakeland holiday, be it for a family gathering, celebration or simply an annual break. The detached lodge house enjoys a three acre site of beautiful gardens, awash with well established azaleas and rhododendrons, from which to take in the panoramic views of the surrounding Hawkshead Valley whilst the house itself retains some delightful features including a delightful partly glazed verandah, the ideal shelter for pre dinner drinks. The area is ideal for exploring the traditional villages of Coniston and Hawkshead, never more than minutes away in the car, and no trip to this part of the Lakes would be complete without a stroll around The Jewel of the Lakes, Tarn Howes, an inspiring beauty spot and one attributed to bringing out the romantic side of many a man or woman! In terms of nearby facilities, The famous Drunken Duck Inn is a mere 1.5 miles away, a leisurely stroll although Hawkshead, Coniston and Ambleside all have the usual grocers, butchers, bakers as well as galleries, tea shops, pubs and restaurants.
