The old town of Aldeburgh with its beach and fishing boats, cinema, museum summer theatre, shops and restaurants, and Leiston with its leisure centre/pool, cinema and museum are about 4 miles away. As is Snape Maltings, which has shopping/galleries, and the concert hall. Thorpeness has its own laid back style and boating mere, is approximately 5 miles . Countryside with good, interesting walks is all around, of note are Dunwich heath, Minsmere bird reserve, and Rendlesham forest , Southwold, Walberswick, Orford and Woodbridge all are within 25 miles drive. 1 Chequers Row is on the end of a terrace of four houses which was built about 20 years ago, but is designed to look like a terrace of period cottages. It has an east/south facing garden with a walnut tree that gives dappled shade. It is a peaceful retreat with no parking worries and is within easy reach of interesting days out.
